Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that certain quarters of the UK press are concentrating more on the shooting of Menezes than the actual 'root' cause of this whole horrific incident? Some seem to be even using the shooting of Menezes as a reason to declare 'open season' on the UK's police service in general, there's been attacks on police officers pay, quality of service etc.
Fifty-six innocent people were killed in the attacks on the London transport system
by 'home grown' Islamic terrorists. Yes and before you start moaning, I am including in this figure the four men who actually carried out the attacks. Why......? Well that's for another installment!
Now don't get me wrong, the shooting of Menezes is absolutely awful, by all account the Met's dealings with his family have been shabby, but for God's sake let's not forget the real reason why there's so many armed officers tooting around our capital city at the moment.
Menezes is in my opinion the 57th innocent victim - The people ultimately responsible for his death at the hands of UK police officers, are the handlers of the four men who pushed the buttons on their home made devices that fateful 7th July morning.
