Derbyshire police got its dogs barking to make sure that levels met with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations being introduced next April. The force said it would make its findings available to forces across England and Wales so they do not fall foul of the regulations.
The new rules lower the acceptable levels of noise to which employees can be exposed. Derby University carried out the study at the behest of the police. While Derbyshire dogs passed the test, they came close to the level of acceptable noise, the study found.
